Folksy Kitchen Chairs

Two unique and distinctly Swedish vintage chairs.  Chair on left has a combination of worn blue and red paint, with lots of natural wood showing through.  Leather seat has worn printed pattern with blue and yellow flowers.  Most of the pattern is long gone.  This chair is strengthened by wires underneath.  Also added are two thin metal rods holding the railing to the seat . These do not detract from the original look of the chair, however they do make it more sturdy!  Chair on right is primarily worn blue, with with a red dot pattern along its top.  Beautiful colors.  Very typical of Swedish country style. No structural changes to its original style.  $295 each.

Hälsingland wall cabinet with original decorative painting from the early 1800's.  This is a magnificent piece, with the wonderful decoration so typical of Hälsingland, and in the original paint.  As you may or may not know, pieces from Hälsingland are extremely rare and hard to find, and this one is a special treasure.  Notice the wonderful painted interior and the 2 drawers.  Also there is a very very heavy and sturdy bracket at the top for hanging on the wall.  Just wonderful.

In every Swedish home, there is some type of hanging cabinet, freeing space on the floor and also giving needed extra storage space in a beautiful way. This cabinet was made with a dancing couple and quote from Sweden. Translated, the quotes say "Shared joy is double joy" and "God bless our home". There is also a crown on the top with the words, anno 1993, which is the year when this was made. There are 3 shelves inside and painted on one of the shelves at the back is a dala horse, looking as if he is standing there, keeping guard over the items place there, smile. It is signed on the bottom of the girl's skirt and the cabinet is 28" high, 22 1/2" wide, and 7 1/8" depth. This is extremely colorful and the colors are bright and true like the pictures. If you do not love color or Swedish treasures, this cabinet is not for you, but for those of you whose heart is Swedish, this is for you. enjoy and please ask any questions. Pictures of this cabinet were also taken for the Southeastern Antique magazine and is due out in March 2006. When we started our business in 1992, Swedish Country Interiors, this was the first cabinet which we painted. The business slowly evolved from painted furniture to antiques and collectables.
