Keepsake Boxes

Keepsake boxes, old and new.  The blue marble painted box was made in Sweden in 1996.  (Artist name and date carved on back side.) The wood tone antique box is dated 1916, has marbled sides and six compartments inside.  (Artist name and date written on back side.)  These both would be wonderful storage containers, but as seen in the pictures, would make great decorative pieces on their own.  Add to a collection, or use alone!

Children's Store Set

We purchased this in Sweden and it is an adorable children's store set, complete with scales, drawers for the dried goods, canisters and everything needed for a little store. It is very very wonderful and on the front says "Barn Butik," or "Children's store." The box, or storefront, is 16" X 10" and 3" deep. There is one weight missing for the scales. This is a great, eclectic item.  Please email any questions. Children could use it, but actually it is a "big girl's toy."

Hobby Horse

Child's hobby horse from Sweden, circa early 1900s, this horse is in good condition and can be ridden without any repair. It is 26" long and 26" tall. On our last buying trip, we found one of these and it lasted on the website 3 days. This is quite a rare item.  It is old, wonderful and very Swedish. Enjoy.

Vintage Sewing Box

This beautiful old sewing box is gorgeous with colors of blue and yellow. It is filled with sewing items and it opens in a gigantic accordion way to show many drawers, those too, filled with sewing items. Of course it does not have to be a sewing chest, if these items were removed, it would make a beautiful folk art piece for your home and a wonderful piece left open to use for display on a cabinet. This is amazing. One of our suppliers found it on a buying trip and he buys things from many countries so I do not know the exact origin of this box. It looks Swedish to me, but I cannot say that with certainty; so we will let you decide. But it is a wonderful old box in fantastic condition. OLD SWEDISH SHELF OF A SWEDISH BOY AND GIRL IN COSTUME FEEDING A DUCK.

The shelf is quite old and the painting on it newer but wonderful. It is 23 1/2" long, 4 1/2" deep and 5 1/2" high. The painting is signed . This is a traditional towel rack for Sweden, where there are 4 hooks. Each member of the family each had a hook, Then on the bar on the front, they all were covered with one towel to make it look nice. Each member used their own towel until wash day. At the top is a shelf where you could keep more pretty things or soaps, whatever you wished. It is a sweet shelf. Remember now, the painting on the front is newer, but the actual shelf is quite old. This is a very beautiful old vanity mirror from Sweden, with a drawer on the front and a lovely mercury mirror that has been scratched over time, but just wonderful. The mirror moves back and forth to align with the user's face as she gets her make up from the drawer in front , along with possibly her special jewelry. This is from the 1800s and is outstanding in it's uniqueness and beauty. It has hand stenciled roses and leaves on the front and many many years ago, looks like there was a new coat of very very soft green on the top but that was so very long ago, and definitely NOT new paint. It is 14 1/4" tall, 10 3/4" wide at the drawer and the drawer is 3 3/8" tall. There are no marks or names or dates but could be possibly be a bridal gift, made by the future bridegroom for his bride to be. This is beautiful. enjoy and please email any questions. thank you.
