Vintage Norwegian topographical map of the Lake Bygdin (Central ) region of Norway. 18 X 20 inches, folds into 6 X 4 ½ inch booklet. Map has a few worn tears at the folds and a bit on the left side. Adds to its vintage appeal! This map would make a great framed print or be neat to keep as a booklet. A Legend (Tegnforklaring) is on the back. All text is in Norwegian. "Trykt, 1921" is noted on the front.

Antique Norwegian Sewing Cabinet

Cylindrical and made of wood, the cabinet is surrounded with beautifully painted figurines and rosemaling on the exterior. Inside, it is filled with numerous sewing accessories and has a small shelf with pincushion. The exact age of this item is not known, probably from the early 19^th century. 10 inches in diameter, and 10 inches tall.

Early 1900s Nisse all around this old porcelain bowl. Delightful in the Porsgrund designs, but marked on the bottom Gefle. 9 1/2" ear to ear, bowl is 7 3/4" in diameter and it is 2 3/4" high. It looks like there are duplicate pictures here, but the design is the same on both sides. We have shown you pictures of both sides for you to see the condition all around the bowl.

This is an awesome Norwegian box that we just acquired, a most beautiful and old hand made box with finial top and footed base, with beautiful rosemaling all around the outside with Norwegian flags and at the top, it says "JULEAFTEN 1905", or for a translation "CHRISTMAS EVE, 1905, in NORWAY". It is 8 1/2" tall, and 5" diameter at the base. At the bottom it says "Hilsen fra Norge". There is one small crack in the wood at the base, which we have shown to you in pictures. This beautiful hand crafted wooden tray was made in Bergen Norway and has finely done woodburning and painting along with painted Norwegian flags and the name "ROSENKRANNTA-TARN BERGEN". This vintage Norwegian carving is beautiful and wonderful from both sides and it makes me smile. If you want to carve, just look for an old piece of cabinet that in itself is a piece of art, and then carve on the back, he he he. What a special piece to have both sides as art. I wonder what the cabinet looked like that stood before he used this piece to make the daffodils, smile. The detail is quite incredible, look closely at the daffodils, each petal is carved, then put on the backing , and then painted. It is intricately carved and painted and placed on the backing, which is ornately carved with a lovely border. It is 9 3/8" long, and 4 1/2" wide at each end, but the center bows out and in the center, it is 4 3/4" wide. It is signed on the back , "EA,72". Signed print, called " Fisketorget i Bergen", or "fishmarket in Bergen". This is a very rare print of a painting by famous Norwegian artist, Atelier Hetland. He has signed this personally and lives in Bergen. You can see his work on his website at post@hetlandbilder.no. The size of this is 26" X 20". It was given as a gift many years ago to someone from the U. S. who was doing business in Bergen. I purchased it from her. It is very whimsical and makes you smile. Please note the frozen mermaid in the ice block. This is wonderful.

This is a beautiful old tine box from Norway, with beautiful banding around the box and a very very long clasp that pulls out to open the box. (see pictures) The box is 8" long but to the end of the clasp, is 10" long. It is 6 3/4" tall and 6" from front to back. I have never seen one this unusual with the wonderful banding around it. Note also the way the banding meets and is finished off. It is amazing. There is a solid wood bottom and the base box is built like a stave bucket , the finished with the great bands. This is a beautiful piece of Norwegian handwork, with cut out holes and embroidery and very, very lovely. It is done on linen and there are no spots or holes, however there is a slight shadow where it has been folded. It is 29" X 15 1/2" and probably made for the top of a dresser.

We purchased this on a trip to Voss Norway in a lovely little Husfliden shop, a shop specializing in hand made items. This item is a hand made cart and horse and we thought it was very sweet. Over the years, we have wanted to paint it but never have done so, with Norwegian rosemaling on it. At Christmas time, it looks wonderful full of small green trees, smile. It is 23 1/2" long from the front of the horse to the back of the horse when hooked together. This is in new condition and direct from Norway, I personally carried it back from our trip many years ago. Enjoy.
