This is an amazing old Swedish ladle, dated on the handle of 1877. It has ornate chip carving on the handle and the dish part of the spoon is carved out to be a ladle, not a flat spoon but very curved and huge. The bowl of the ladle is 6 1/4" X 7 1/2". The length of the the entire ladle is 20 1/2". We purchased this in Sweden and it has been one of our all time personal favorites in our home. There is one small crack on one side of the handle where the grain of wood made it separate just a bit, please see pictures. This is an amazing piece of Swedish folk art. This carved couple from Sweden is delightful. It has been lovingly carved and labeled, "Orsa", which is a city in Dalarna. They are signed on the bottom and are dated " J.Elings Ålergo 1947 Orsa". They are 6 1/2" and 7" tall, the man being a bit taller. The carving and the painting on these is extraordinary. The faces are great and happy and the detailed painting of the costumes is fantastic. Solid wood carved Bust. From the hair style, it was probably carved in the 1970's. The paint is probably 15 to 20 years old. The base is 17" x 20" and the bust stands 26.5" tall. Weighs about 35 pounds.
